In a context where AI is positioned as a major accelerator of technology, Europe's challenge is not only to stay in the race by maintaining control but also to embrace adoption. Among the tools available to the European Commission, one of the key ones is regulatory power. For several years now, the European Commission has been legislating (GDPR, Data Act, AI Act, etc.) and, from this perspective, has a head start compared to other countries. What are the impacts of these regulations in terms of sovereignty and competitiveness? The speakers, who began analyzing the AI Act two years ago, will explain the impacts of this text and the key issues it involves

Artificial intelligence (AI) is essential for the development of robotics, as it equips robots with learning, adaptation, and autonomy capabilities, which are key aspects to make them more useful and versatile in complex environments. Thanks to AI, robots can analyze large volumes of data, recognize patterns, and make decisions in real-time, all of which are vital for enabling robots to interact with humans. AI allows service robots to adapt to changing environments, recognize patterns, and act in a personalized way—fundamental aspects in sectors such as healthcare, personal care, and logistics. The speaker will explore how robots can better understand and respond to users' needs, thereby improving the quality of service and enhancing efficiency and safety in human-robot interactions. AI is one of the most powerful tools for developing innovative solutions in the industrial and service sectors.

The speaker will address the importance of defining the professionalism and skills necessary for the implementation of responsible AI systems, emphasizing the pivotal role of engineers in driving sustainable innovation. This includes underlining the need for compliance with the AI Act and advocating for a thoughtful approach to mitigate potential negative social impacts of AI, such as trend manipulation, social inequality, and the importance of fostering collaborative human-machine systems that encourage cooperation rather than replacement. She will offer an Italian perspective while maintaining a broader European relevance and applicability, highlighting the essential role of professional associations in ensuring engineers are properly equipped to implement AI safely and effectively. This approach will uphold high ethical standards, quality, and full regulatory compliance.
